Key Responsibilities:
- Database Maintenance Keeping our databases running smoothly 24/7 by performing tasks such as backups, updates, and patches
- Migrations: Skillfully manage schema changes, from monitoring developer commits to executing migrations seamlessly
- Performance Tuning: Fine-tune database performance by optimizing queries, managing indexes, and configuring systems for optimal operation
- Security: Implement and maintain robust security protocols, including user permissions, encryption, and auditing to safeguard valuable data
- Backup and Recovery: Craft and execute foolproof strategies for database backup and disaster recover
- Replication and Scaling: Expertly manage database replication and scaling techniques to accommodate growing demands
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers and data engineers to ensure the database aligns perfectly with application needs and query optimization
- Monitoring & Alerting: Proactively monitor database health and performance metrics, promptly addressing any potential issues by setting up effective alerts
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database setups, configurations, procedures, and all modifications made
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fiel
- Proven 10+ years of experience experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
- Proficiency in database management systems, such as PostgreSQL
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
